Hotel/Restaurant for sale near Mihai Viteazu and Saschiz - 250'000 Euro

This enormous building situated on the main road (E60) has until recently served as a restaurant. The building sits just a few metres from the main road which runs from Brasov to Sighisoara and farther on towards the north-western borders of Romania meaning that passing traffic consists of both tourists and commercial travellers. It is about 3km from the village of Saschiz and about 4km from the village of Mihai Viteazu and sit amongsts the regions well-known hops plantations. In addition to the large two-storey building, the property has 200m2 of parking and some gardens in which fruit trees grow.

The building itself has a 675m2 footprint with two floors. The lower floors contains a large restaurant dining room, client toilets, kitchens and storage rooms. The other half of the lower floor has a reception area for the hotel and a stairway leading to the upper level. Upstairs there are two wings with the same 675m2 surface area as downstairs. The renovated wing has six double bedrooms off of a long corridor. The other side of the building has fallen into disuse but contains numerous rooms and a large room suitable for conferencing or meetings should the purchaser wish to market the hotel to corporate 'getaways', which are becoming increasingly popular in Romania.

The entire building, frankly, would need a complete refit in order to operate as a restaurant and hotel in today's more competitive environment, but its location just 2 minutes from the popular UNESCO village of Saschiz, and 20 minutes from Sighisoara, one of Romania's major tourist attractions, make it a potentially viable investment for someone with the vision and the finances to renovate it to an attractive modern standard, catering for not only tourists (both bookings and passing trade, thanks to its location) but also for hosting corporate events, symposiums, and team building activities.

For international visitors, Targu Mures airport lies only 62km away (about 90 minutes' drive) and another international airport is currently under construction in Brasov, 70km to the south. The Saschiz area is growing in popularity due to the promotion and development of local businesses, especially in food production, its natural and architectural heritage and support by various foundations and organisations, such as the Prince Charles-sponsored Mihai Eminescu Trust, Adept, and UNESCO. There are many small guesthouses in the neighbouring villages but few with a capacity of more than six rooms. A project such as the conversion of this building into a high-end hotel or spa resort could prove to be an invaluable addition to the regions capabilities to host visitors, both domestic and international.

The asking price for this property is 250'000 Euro not including VAT (it is being sold by a company so is liable for VAT) and is negotiable.
